World Oral Health Day 2021

March 20, 2021

It’s World Oral Health Day!

This year the FDI’s World Oral Health Day asks you to Be Proud Of Your Mouth. Dental caries remains the most common health condition in the world. The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted all our lives and for many that may mean a change to our usual dental care. These changes could be anything from missing a routine check-up, reduced brushing of teeth or increase sugar in our diet. All of these lead to an increased risk of dental caries.

Many dental teams around the world are doing outstanding work reaching out to their patients throughout the pandemic to give advice by phone and video call and check that their at-risk patients have access to fluoride toothpaste. Simple steps like these go a long way towards mitigating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on patients’ oral health.

So this World Oral Health Day remember that using fluoride toothpaste, sugar-free gum and regular dental check-ups are the best way all of us can take control of our oral health and prevent dental caries.
