ACFF Spanish Chapter Activity Update

May 14, 2021

The ACFF Spanish Chapter had its first official meeting of 2021 on April 10. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting was held online this year rather than in person. Still, there was a great turnout with both members of the Chapter and collaborators attending.

One of the meeting’s main discussions was around the role of the ACFF Spanish Chapter’s new Scientific Committee. The committee will bring together representatives of the Spanish Pediatric Society (SEOP) and the Spanish Epidemiology and Oral Public Health Society (SESPO) to work together collaboratively. Among other functions, the main role of this committee will be to evaluate actions and activities proposed to the Chapter by its collaborators in Spain.

There was also the presentation of the Chapter’s new social media profiles on Facebook (@acff.es), Instagram (@acff.es) and Twitter(@acff_es). Following this, there was a discussion about how to improve and better utilise the Spanish Chapter’s website. You can visit the Chapter’s website at https://chapters.acffglobal.org/spain/.

In addition, it was agreed that the Spanish Chapter will attend and participate in the next two national congresses of both collaborating associations. The Annual Meeting of SEOP and of Young Pediatric Dentists Congress will be held online on May 28th – 29th 2021 and will be disseminated not only in Spain, but also throughout Latin America. The annual SESPO congress will be held in person and online on October 1st – 2nd 2021 in Zaragoza, Spain. Both of these congresses will give the Chapter widespread visibility and will be an excellent opportunity to promote the ACFF and the Chapter’s work to other public health professionals.

It was great to see so many people getting involved in the Spanish Chapter from across public health. Everyone that attended the meeting came away from it with renewed motivation and enthusiasm for what the Chapter will be able to achieve this year. Together, we can work towards a cavity-free future.
