5th Annual World Cavity Free Future Day Celebrates Smiles Across Generations Competition Winners

October 15, 2020

The Alliance for a Cavity-Free Future aimed to start a conversation across generations through a video competition on how people of all ages are susceptible to dental caries and cavities. ACFF announced the winners yesterday on World Cavity-Free Future Day.

Yesterday marked the fifth annual World Cavity-Free Future Day (WCFFDay). Previous years have focused on choosing water over sugary beverages and limiting sugar for under twos. This year, WCFFDay aimed to raise awareness around tooth decay as a disease across the life course, with each age group and generation experiencing different challenges and needs for the best oral care. This year, the Alliance for a Cavity-Free Future started the conversation several months ahead of WCFFDay through a video competition called “Smiles Across Generations.”

Starting in July, ACFF encouraged audiences of all ages to share how they think we can achieve a cavity-free future. After receiving over 140 entries and hundreds of shares, likes and comments, ACFF is sharing the top three winning videos from this year’s competition today on WCFFDay. You can find the winning videos and all our entries here.  Entries talk about a range of ways families and friends across the globe are taking care of their dental health.

WCFFDay was launched as an initiative in 2016 to address the need for greater global awareness of dental caries. In addition, ACFF focuses on the wider issues that stem from poor dental health and raises global awareness about best practices for the prevention and management of caries and cavities.
